INEC also declared Mr. Ifeanyi Ubah, the chairman of Capital Oil and Gas of the Young Progressives Party, YPP, and Senator Uche Ekwunife of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, winners of the Anambra South and Anambra Central Senatorial districts respectively.

Declaring the results yesterday in Onitsha, the Returning Officer, Prof. Hughes Maduka, said Senator Stella Oduah polled 113,989 votes to defeat 20 other candidates, including Dr. Chinedu Emeka of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, who came second with 59,937 votes while Mr. Nelson Onubogu of the All Progressives Congress, APC, emerged third with 11,995 votes.

Reacting to her victory, Senator Oduah said her re-election for second tenure was “a proof of God’s love for me and my people and I promised to sustain the quality representation.”

The result of Ifeanyi Ubah’s victory was announced by Mr. M.N. Umenweke, the returning officer at Uruagu Nnewi North Council Headquarters.

Umenweke disclosed that Ubah polled 87,081 votes to beat his three other rivals, Chris Uba of the PDP (62,462) and his brother, Andy of the APC (13,245) and Nicholas Ukachukwu of APGA (51,269).

Ubah’s election victory had ended years of domination of the Anambra South Senatorial District by the Uba brothers from Uga in Aguata area of the state.

Senator Ugochukwu Uba, the eldest of the Uba brothers held the Anambra South Senatorial seat between 2003 and 2007, while his younger brother and incumbent Senator Andy Uba held the position from 2011 to date.

Senator Ekwunife who was at the national assembly for APGA between 2010 and 2014 defeated the incumbent Senator Victor Umeh of APGA and Sylvester Okonkwo of the APC.

But the Victor Umeh Campaign Organisation said INEC has not declared Anambra Central Senatorial District result as being claimed as it is still collating the results.

Ekwunife had reportedly polled 18,412 votes ahead of Umeh’s 14,403, while Okonkwo trailed them at the rear with 1,144 votes.

PDP also won the House of Representatives seat for Anaocha/Njikoka/Dunukofia Federal Constituency as its candidate Mr. Valentine Ayika scored 16,084. The incumbent, Mr.Ferdinand Dozie Nwankwo of APGA came second with 14,582 and Mr. Elijah Onyeagba of the APC scored 2,574 to come third in the contest.

In a related development, the minister of labour and employment, Senator Chris Ngige has raised objection to the results, particularly that of Njikoka local government area.

The minister who is the APC agent for the election said the results announced by the collation officer, Prof Edmund Egbo did not tally with what was collated in the polling units and wards of the local government.

“With due respect, we cannot accept this result because it does not tally with what was collated in the field. This is a clear case of over voting and my party will not accept it.

“We know that we are working to beat time especially because of the number of presidential candidates involved, but the right thing would have been to start by announcing the results from the field, before that of the entire local government,” Ngige said.

But the collation officer insisted that there was no case of over voting but a slight increase in the number of the total votes scored by the candidates.

My Dear Nigerians,

First and foremost, I give thanks to Almighty God Who has spared our lives to witness another victory for Nigerian democracy and victory for our party APC.

2. I thank the millions of Nigerians who voted to re-elect me as your president for the next four years. I am deeply humbled and profoundly grateful to you for judging me worthy of continuing to serve you and for your peaceful conduct.3. In particular, I would like to thank Asiwaju Bola Tinubu for his masterful leadership as Co-chair of the Campaign Council. I would like to also thank the Party Chairman Adams Oshiomhole, the Director General of the Campaign Council Rotimi Amaechi, all members of the Presidential Campaign Council and other various Support Groups.

4. My grateful thanks to all those who contributed to the logistical expenses of the campaign in such a vast country like Nigeria.

5. I also thank the millions of volunteers, self-appointed overseers, canvassers, agents, escorts and sentries who sacrificed so much of their time and resources to ensure the success of these elections. I do not have the words adequate to thank them.

6. Although Saturday’s elections were relatively peaceful, troublemakers in a handful of states attempted to disrupt an otherwise orderly process. Security agencies will bring to justice all those arrested in the process.

7. I am very sad at the grievous loss of lives during these elections. Security agencies will step up their efforts to protect voters in the forthcoming State elections.

8. I would like to commend our security agencies, as severely overstretched as they are, for handling the difficult task of securing the country during the election period.

9. I will like to make a special appeal to my supporters not to gloat or humiliate the opposition. Victory is enough reward for your efforts.

10. We give thanks also to our Domestic and International observers for contributing to the success of our elections and for their interest in our country and our developing democracy.

11. The new Administration will intensify its efforts in Security, Restructuring the Economy and Fighting Corruption. We have laid down the foundation and we are committed to seeing matters to the end. We will strive to strengthen our unity and inclusiveness so that no section or group will feel left behind or left out.

12. I thank you for your support and may God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially declared President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress as the winner of the 2019 presidential election, defeating Atiku Abubakar of the PDP with over three million votes

Mahmood Yakubu said the duty of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is to conclude and collate the presidential result for final declaration.

He said on the problem of accredited voters not adding up to number of voters, Yajubu said the problem affects less than 2 per cent of voters and thus does not affect the general conclusion.

He said in Yobe and Akwa Ibom, the numbers add up.

He said on the request of the opening of the commission’s backlend for verification and cross checking of voters, he says it is not a matter of law. He said the discussion can be continued after the end of this process.

Osita Chidoka representing the Peoples Democratic Party said there was a discrepancy of more than 1,600, 000 voters in terms of registered voters.

He said the cancelled votes affected more than 2 million voters. He claimed there were 5.1 million votes that cannot be accounted for and thus called for a rerun.

In his response, Yakubu said the asserting that 5.1 million voters could not vote because of card readers is not true. He also said when card readers are deliberately circumvented, votes will be cancelled.

He said constitutionally, he has two roles. Firstly, as a the chief commissioner of the election, he will announce the national collation of results.

Secondly, as the returning officer for the presidential election, he will make an official declaration of the winner of the election.

The INEC chairman announced that Muhammadu Buhari of the APC scored 15, 191, 847 votes. while Atiku Abubakar of the PDP scored 11, 262, 978.

Total valid votes – 2, 732, 4583

Rejected votes 1, 289, 607

Total votes cast – 2, 861, 4190

Yakubu said following the collation, he said he now performs his role as returning officer and listed all the names of the presidential candidates and their total votes.

He said Muhammadu Buhari is declared winner of the election and returned elected.

“Yesterday Sunday, 24th Feb, 2019 Mayor Gbenga Adewusi @bayowagbengaadewusiswagatv visited Baba Suwe on his hospital bed and having been briefed of the current situation, he initiated a SOS to Rev. (Mrs.) Esther Ajayi @love_of_christ_generation through Bro Biodun Paseda @abbeyway27 to see where the philantrophist can help Baba Suwe.
Immediately she offered to support with TEN MILLION NAIRA(10million naira) and his flight ticket to support whatever Baba Suwe had gathered in order to get thorough medical assistance quickly. She spoke to Baba Suwe and offered him prayers.

And early this Monday morning, she fulfilled her promise(Shai! some rich people don’t know Monday oh. No Monday excuse, wawu!). My sense of humour though. On behalf of Baba Suwe, his family, fans and colleagues, we say a big thank to our mother, Rev. Esther Ajayi for her USUAL KINDNESS, may you never fall. This will go a long way. We shall loose no time to facilitate the trip abroad at the instance of Medical experts in LUTH working tenaciously on getting Baba Suwe a huge recovery to enable him fly for that long haul with little or no risk.
