Ireti Kingibe is a prominent figure in the political and civil engineering communities in Nigeria. She is a candidate for the senatorial position for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in the next general elections in Nigeria in 2023 under the platform of the Labour party.
The politician’s birthday is June 2nd, and she was born in 1954. As of the year 2023, Ireti will have reached the age of 69.
Ireti is the younger sister of Ajoke Mohammed, who was married to the former Head of State of Nigeria, Murtala Mohammed. Ireti also goes by the name Ireti.
Ireti began her formal education at Emotan Preparatory School, where she completed all of the requirements for her basic education. After that, she went on to complete her secondary school at Queen’s College in Lagos and Washington Irving High School.
After that, she enrolled at the University of Minnesota, where she earned a degree in civil engineering and then went on to pursue her career.
fter receiving his degree in Quality Control engineering from the University of Minnesota in 1978, Ireti began working for Bradley Precast Concrete Inc. in the same capacity the following year, 1979.
After leaving, she started working for the Minnesota Department of Transportation Design section in 1979 and stayed there until 1991 in the capacity of an engineer.
Ireti served as a Project Supervisor for the Directorate of works at the Nigerian Air Force station in Ikeja, Lagos, during the years 1981 and 1982. This was after she had completed the requisite national service of one year that she was required to perform.
After that, in 1982, Ireti was given the opportunity to work for the New Nigeria Construction Corporation in Kaduna. She held the position of planning engineer while she was employed by the company. After that, in 1985, she left to take a position as a consultant for Belsam Ltd.
Throughout the years 1990 to 1994, Kingibe was employed at Lodigiani Nigeria Limited in Lagos in the capacity of regional engineer.
The city of Abuja is where she currently serves as a Senior Partner at Kelnic Associates.
Ireti entered partisan politics in 1990 when she became a member of the Social Democratic Party, which is no longer in existence (SDP). She is now serving in the capacity of Advisor to the National Chairman of the Party.
In 2003, she ran as a senatorial candidate for the All Nigeria Peoples Party in the Federal Capital Territory election.
After that, Ireti crossed over to the PDP in 2006 and stayed there until 2014, when she joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).
She stood for office in 2015 under the banner of the All Progressives Congress (APC), but she ultimately dropped her candidacy.
In 2022, she became a member of the Labour Party and ran as a candidate for the Senate seat representing the Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria in the general elections of 2023.
Prior to their separation, she was married to Baba Gana Kingibe, who had previously served as Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
