Meanwhile, in other news…

recalls that Ghetto and dancehall singer Blackface issued a stern  warning to the entire Nigerian music industry to desist from stealing his songs any further.

Through the years, the former member of Plantashun Boiz has accused different artists of stealing his songs, the first being his ex-group mate, Tubaba.

Last year, Blackface claimed Afrobeats sensations Asake and Wizkid had recreated songs that belonged to him. He said that henceforth, he will be taking a legal approach to the matter instead of begging people to give him credit for his songs.

He said, “At the time I released the songs that were allegedly stolen, they were online. I don’t want to trend; I just want people to stop touching my music without my permission. I am begging them to stop. I cannot compete with myself. Many of them plan shows, and they intentionally don’t invite me. They should just give me the credit I deserve.”

The 50-year-old singer also stated that he was still giving the people involved some time before escalating the matter.

Blackface said, “We have to improve on what we do to get better. Some members of the public don’t take me seriously because they are not the ones who copy my songs. The ones who copy my songs are not finding it funny.

I have not taken the cases to court because I’m still giving them the benefit of the doubt and allowing them to retrace their steps. If they don’t do so, I will instruct my lawyer to commence legal action against them.”
