Kenyan military officer Lt. Colonel Damaris Agnetta is assigned to the Kenya Army division of the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF). On October 4th, 2022, Lt Col Agnetta was chosen to replace Col. F
abian Lengusuranga, Aide-de-Camp to President William Ruto. Both of them took over for Rachael Nduta, the deputy ADC, and Timothy Lekolol, the former ADC.
In 2018, former president Uhuru Kenyatta chose Rachael Nduta to be the first female ADC. Afterwards, Rachael Nduta was elevated to the rank of full Colonel and transferred to the Department of Defense (DoD).
Since she was commissioned in the Kenyan Army’s artillery in 2003, Damaris Agnetta has held this position. Timothy Lekolol Stelu, a former ADC, was promoted from Colonel to Brigadier.
Agnetta is four grades away from reaching the rank of general (Colonel, Brigadier, Lieutenant General, Major General). The KDF is commanded by the general, who holds the highest rank in the Kenyan army.
At any given time, there can only be one general. Robert Kabochi is the military’s current chief of staff. A person must be a Lieutenant Colonel or a Full Colonel or above to be an ADC. Agnetta is appointed as the second female ADC deputy.
An ADC is a highly-trained senior military officer, who is required to be part of the president’s itinerary at all times. Most of his tasks is ceremonial as serves as an aide VVIP to the head of state.
