Final-Year Student Arrested for Allegedly Poisoning Girlfriend and Friend in Abeokuta
A final-year student at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, named Oladokun Ayomide, has been apprehended by the Ogun State Police Command.
He is accused of poisoning his girlfriend, Ugbokwe Mmasichukwu, and another woman, Odumosu Semilore.
The alleged poisoning took place when Ayomide invited his girlfriend to his residence in the Surulere community, serving them a poisonous mixture of brownie cakes, alcohol, and an unidentified harmful substance.
Mmasichukwu had asked her schoolmate, Semilore, to accompany her to Ayomide’s place. Both victims lost consciousness after consuming the toxic cake and were promptly taken to the hospital.
Although the motive behind Ayomide’s actions remains unclear, preliminary investigations suggest an intention to harm the victims. The Chief Security Officer of the university, Olusola Ajibola, led the arrest, and the victims are currently responding to treatment.
Further investigations are ongoing to uncover the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the situation, stating that the victims were found to have consumed a brownie cake, and a foil paper pack for the cake was discovered at the crime scene.
